Hello! I’m Amy –
I’m an Asian American, queer, cisgender woman, a partner, and a mom to two teens.
I have lived in the Kansas City metro for the last 9 years, but I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and have lived in various cities across the US. I have been a therapist for the last 7 years and graduated with my Master’s degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
My personal life experiences and professional background allow me to work well other queer and BIPOC folks, as well as anyone seeking to answer the question:
Who am I, and how does this impact my experience in the world?
Some other folks asking this question who might consider working with me are:
- folks who are experiencing symptoms of depression and/or anxiety
- those with a history of trauma – particularly family of origin and religious trauma
- individuals with curiosity to explore identity development around sexuality, gender, race, class, ability
- folks looking for support in their family, friend, or romantic relationships – including polyamory/consensual non-monogamy
- those looking to explore deconstruction and/or reconstruction of religion and spirituality
- folks who want to understand how their system works through the lens of neurodivergence – especially autism and ADHD
If any or some or all of these sound like you and you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to take a read of my thoughts on therapy and my economic justice based fee structure as well. This will give you a bigger picture of what meeting with me as a therapist might be like.
For those curious about specific therapy modalities, I like to utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) with folks, I am EMDR trained, and Level I Ecotherapy certified.
It would be a delight to connect with you to talk about what you’re hoping to receive from therapy at this season in your life and if working with me might provide that. Please reach out via the Contact page and I’ll be in touch soon!
